Stunning
This lad’s taken the whole brood under his wing I’ve nicknamed him Captain Courageous a true Highland heart with Yorkshire grit!
The wee ’uns follow him like 9 peas in a pod, sticking close as he keeps ’em right.
A big thanks as well to our anglers who’ve been keeping a close eye on the family, making sure they’re safe and even slipping them the odd tasty tit-bit.
A grand sight on the fishery
Regards
Gary

What a sweetheart Richard Brooks
Swan Update
Sadly, the female swan has passed away due to lead poisoning. The exact cause isn’t fully known but may be linked to historic factors such as old lead shot exposure or environmental impacts from historical opencast mining. These legacy issues can remain for many decades.
Dad remains healthy and is doing a fantastic job looking after his young brood.

Thank you,
Gary

Haven't used lead shot or weights for years. Shooter's use lead in the cartridges.
Have you thought that Swans fly they could have got the lead from anywhere or in the fields . Remember this dam wes dredged a few years ago so most of the lead that was there has probably gone
He stayed there for an hour till I fed them
